Palin is a little confused

November 19, 2009
By Billy Dennis

There was nothing wrong with her answer to a question on a possibly nuclear Iran. Except she kept calling it Iraq:

Sarah Palin is obviously running for president. This sort of thing just reinforces the perception she’s a lightweight.

man, this has turned into Peoria Liberal Pundit. Does this mean the anti pundit has to be a religious far right wing abortion hating nut?

How about some posts about things other than you ripping palin, the tea party, or your hardon for birthers. the birthers comprise about .00005% of this country’s population.

Were I not a libertarian who believes in no first use of force (in most cases), I would punch you in the nose for calling me a liberal. ;-)

Hard to ignore the fodder that is Palin. :)

She’s said that if she runs she would consider Glenn Beck as a running mate. I think her adviser is her retarded baby.

  4. nontimendum on November 19, 2009 at 7:37 pm

Marty, Sarah is fair game, but are you aware that “retarded” is an incredibly insensitive slur?

  5. vonster on November 19, 2009 at 7:40 pm

I seem to remember a number of “mis-speakings” on the part of a recent candidate….57 states????

  6. vonster on November 19, 2009 at 7:41 pm

Marty’s just showing the usual class of the left.

  7. Marty Wombacher on November 19, 2009 at 9:37 pm

nontimendum: I’m not aware that retarded is an insensitive slur. You may think it’s a bad and tasteless joke and it is, I’m not arguing that, but I seriously don’t think if someone is retarded, that it’s a slur to call them “retarded.”

  8. nontimendum on November 20, 2009 at 6:38 am

Well it is. No different than using a racial slur.

  9. Mazr on November 20, 2009 at 7:11 am

    And out comes Vonster…….

@nontimedum: Really? Her baby has Down Syndrome. If you look at any medical definition of what Down Syndrome is, it’s referred to as a form of mild retardation. So the baby is retarded. It’s a medical term. How is that no different than a racial slur? And “well it is” isn’t a very good argument.

    • nontimendum on November 21, 2009 at 8:20 am

It wasn’t intended to be an argument. My intent was not to debate you, but rather to educate you. If you choose to continue using that slur it will now stem from insensitivity and not ignorance.

    Billy and all,

If you watch the entire interview (on the web, somewhere) you’ll see that she correctly stated “Iran” a few minutes later. If the correct word was “Madagascar” and a potential prez candidate mistakenly said “Canada” instead, I’d worry. But the similarity in “Iraq” and “Iran” (the first three letters are the same) can lead to confusion, especially when one is being interviewed on national television. It happens, and it doesn’t mean the person who makes the mistake is disqualified from seeking elected office. Case in point, Barack Obama’s “57 states” flub doesn’t disqualify him from being president, or make him stupid. It makes great fodder though. And it’s far funnier than confusing Iran and Iraq.

@David P Jordan: What’s worrisome to me is that some people actually think that Sarah Palin could be President.

    • David P. Jordan on November 20, 2009 at 6:57 pm

You should first worry about the Dem’s losing control of Congress :)

Sarah Palin will only run for president in 2012 if in early- to mid-2011 her poll numbers beat Obama’s. If not, she won’t run. Meanwhile, she sees herself as helpful to conservative causes and will focus her efforts at getting true conservatives elected to office in 2010. If the Dem’s pass their so-called health care “reform” and/or Cap-and-Trade, her cause will be made easy.

You may be right about Sarah, David, time will tell. A friend of mine said he thinks she’ll end up with a show on Fox and I think that’s a definite possibility. Stranger things have happened, but I can’t imagine a majority of people thinking that she’s capable of running this country. That’s just my opinion though. And I’ve asked people about the retarded thing and I’ve been told that some people do consider it wrong to call a retarded person retarded. I’m sorry, but I just don’t get that.

  14. David P. Jordan on November 21, 2009 at 12:29 am

“Retarded” is PC these days. But it’s a legitimate word…if not used as an attack.

    • Billy Dennis on November 21, 2009 at 12:30 am

      And David wins the debate.

  15. diane on November 21, 2009 at 8:09 am

Sorry, I’m late to the party. I agree with Jim in the first post, and David did you make a typo in comment #14? You mean PIC right?

David, you make me proud to be a Republican!

Bill, what happened to Stoner? You’re avoiding me.
