Peoria’s state senator can kick your state senator’s ass

Chuck Norris, meet Dave Koehler:

Democratic Sen. Dave Koehler says he was painting Thursday night when a man with a gun appeared and demanded money. Koehler says he gave the robber what was in his pocket and told him to leave.

The man demanded Koehler’s cell phone next, but the senator says he instead knocked the man against a wall and took the gun.

Koehler says he broke a finger in the struggle.

The funny thing about this is that Dave Koehler is the LAST guy you could envision kicking some would-be robber’s ass. He’s a reverend, for crying out loud, and once worked with the United Farm Workers. An un-enlightened person might describe him as a bleeding-heart liberal, more likely to try to talk the poor misguided soul into changing his ways.

DeWayne Bartels interviewed Senator Dave for his blog. This is the money quote:

“It wasn’t about the cell phone. It made me mad.”

Don’t make Dave angry. You wouldn’t like him when he’s angry. And don’t mess with his phone, either.

Can you believe this guy? These Dems have to be stopped, they will go to no end to take away your guns, even if it means beating a guy up to do it. I hope this victim gets a good lawyer and sues Sen Koehler for whatever he can get for violating his 2nd amendment rights!

Besides, this wouldn’t have happened if he were a real red-blooded central Illinoisan. If he was, he would have been up in a deer stand last night like everyone else in the area.

It has been said that a conservative is a liberal who got mugged. I don’t know if it applies to an attempted mugging.

I spoke to him at a town hall meeting this summer, he’s actually FOR conceal and carry. I’m glad he ended up safely.

Evidently his being a reverend and having faith in God saved him. He didn’t get shot or badly beaten and he showed the robber that even a man of God won’t be pushed through the wall. He stood up for himself and I say Kudos to him. And I thank God for watching over him.

SD, I would say the fact that the guy had been drinking while brandishing an unloaded gun probably helped Koehler also.
