Some guy at the Washington Post likes McKenna’s hair ads

From a press release from the Andy McKenna campaign:

Washington Post’s Cillizza: The Best Ads
We’ve Seen So Far

9. For our money, the best ads we’ve seen so far in the 2010 midterms are in Illinois for Republican gubernatorial candidate Andy McKenna. McKenna, a former state party chair, has featured the famous hair of disgraced former Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) in each of his early ads — a symbol of the corruption and business as usual that has dominated politics in the state. McKenna’s new ad starts with an image of Blago’s hair atop the state capitol dome while a narrator details what Blagojevich — and, by extension, his successor Pat Quinn — have done to the state. McKenna faces a serious primary challenge from, among others, former state attorney general Jim Ryan but win or lose he has provided a potent blueprint for the GOP nominee to ensure voters don’t forget about Blagojevich next year.
Personally, I think the hair ads are silly and demonstrate he’s trying to run against Blagojevich, who’s either going to be on jail (likely) or on trial when the general election rolls around.
Who cares what some guy at the Washington Post thinks? Papers like the Post cover Illinois politics for the entertainment value.

  1. Murrel says:

It’s a cute trick, like Obama running against George Bush, instead of McCain. I wonder if will work as well. If you had liked McKenna, you’d have called it clever.

  2. Billy Dennis says:

So, your critique of my post is that you THINK I would have said the opposite if i liked Mckenna, thus making the post hypocritical. I do recall advising people to vote for Obama because he was the best option to fix the mess Bush created. But I am trying to recall any ads Obama ran that said his primary opponents has Bush’s hair style.

Whether he does it with a name, or does it symolically by using the hair he is using the same technique Obama used, and in many situations is STILL using with his favorite line – don’t blame me I inherited it. That was what Murrel was getting at.

Let’s also keep in mind that if you peer of to the left of the page their has been a Dan Hynes ad there for quite a while…

      • Billy Dennis says:

And let’s not forget that when I mention Hynes, I often note in the interest of full disclosure, that Hynes is an advertiser. ANY politician is able to buy an ad on this site. It is not a freebie.

      • 11bravo says:

Admit it Billy, you’re in Hynes’s pocket! We need a revolution, these citizen journalists are a fraud they’re all in the pocket of big business and big government. We need to replace the citizen journalists who replaced the maintstream journalists! We need illegal immigrant journalists, only then can we finally hear the truth!

Sorry, had a lot of caffeine this afternoon! :)

Ever hear of this guy: http://peoriaantipundit.blogspot.com/ He pretty much busts my balls every time an opportunity presents itself. And that is as it should be.

The MSM is self congratulatory. The blogosphere is self-correcting.

So he’s the guy who busts the balls of the guy who busts the balls of the MSM? :)

Sorry to se McKenna losing support because some P.R. firm had a crazy idea. He is a good candidate compared to most of the others, hope he smartens up.
