Via POLITICO:
[Sen. John] Ensign admitted to the affair with Cindy Hampton in June, more than a year after the Hamptons left the senator’s office. Doug Hampton claims that Ensign later aided him in lining up lobbying clients, including arranging a meeting for one of those clients with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. Hampton failed to register as a lobbyist after he left Ensign’s office, and he was still under a one-year ban from lobbying Ensign when the alleged contacts with the senator took place. Both are potential violations of federal lobbying laws.
There’s no hint in the story that LaHood did anything illegal.
