Generally, I encourage elected officials to make use of social networks like Facebook and Twitter. It’s a great way to communicate back and forth with constituents.
But there is such a thing as being too transparent. Consider this status update from State Sen. Emil Jones:
Two rules: 1. The boss is always right. 2. If the boss is wrong, refer back to rule number one…..
I’ve never had a boss with that sign. But I have had bosses with this attitude. And they were NOT a joy to work with. Usually, these bosses knew less than those working under then. Which makes sense, because a boss who is a leader doesn’t NEED that sign in the first place. And doesn’t want it, either.
And in an economic environment in which voters with jobs are stressed out because they cannot afford to quit, it might not be wise to hang out that slogan.
And after a LITTLE bit of ribbing, he responded:
“@ David my constituents are my bosses and I’m their servant… I was in one of my constituent’s place of business today and that quote was posted up on the wall. “
Nice spin.

State Sen. Emil Jones JR, I first looked at this story and thought, “No way Emil Jones retires and starts tweeting?!”
Actually, this one is Emil Jones III. Emil Jones Jr. was Blago’s best buddy and Senate President for more than a decade before he handed his throne to this son. You know Democrats, they are more interested in helping themselves and their family and friends than in doing anything to help poor people.
Look at the health care plan. Are the Democrats proposing we lock Doctors in nurses in cages for not treating sick people that can’t afford to pay? No, Democrats have proposed we lock sick people in cages if they can’t afford to pay the Doctor’s and nurses.
Time to get a new servant.
