Woodruff administrators’ jobs are safe, teachers’ jobs not so much

Some unconfirmed scuttlebutt:

Supposedly, the current Woodruff High School principal and assistant principal will become co-principal and co-assistant principal at Central High School next year. In fact, almost all if not ALL administrators at WHS will remain employed in newly created positions next year after WHS closes doors.

Meanwhile, everyone expects there to be a bunch of fired teachers next year. And those who are staying have no idea yet where they will be assigned.

Again, all this is unconfirmed.

  1. General Parker says:

This can’t be totally true Billy because Terri Dunn, current WHS pricipal, is retiring after this year.

  2. Emtronics says:

What about the workers? You know, the custodians, the cafeteria workers, food service manager, office workers?

  3. Anom121709 says:

Isn’t this why they eliminated a school from the system? I don’t get the surprise factor or sudden concern.

I would hope the “cost of doing schooling” would decrease.

Yes, staff will be reduced and many will have to make adjustments. I wish them well in finding new work. I hope 150 has put in place assistance.

  4. RomanII says:

ill some board member who voted “yes” on closing Woodruff stand up and make a motion to reconsider? When is this nonsense going to stop? to bring your budget down there is only one way: cut staff-and that does not just mean just cafeteria workers, janitors, etc., it includes administrators and teachers. It’s not too late!

  5. Closing Woodruff apparently will not save much money, but it does damage Peoria to destroy a community and its supporters. Makes no sense, but then little this board has done for years has made any sense.

  6. Mahkno says:

    “Makes no sense”

  9. no siree says:

And with some Manual teachers receiving letters informing them that they will NOT be back in January. That’s just the icing on the cake……especially since Dr. Carrot has already left for the Virgin Islands for Christmas. Wow, Hinton in Germany, too! But D150 has NO MONEY

    • Romeo says:

All District 150 teachers can be moved as of close of school tomorrow. I’m sure some teachers will be moved to the zoo known as Manual Technical Development High School as a punishment. All of the teachers who were given their letters that they might not be returning were white. Also, Cheryl Ellis is now one of the principals there and she is listed in the law suit filed yesterday by teachers at Trewyn for reverse discrimination.
