Some new District 150 scuttlebutt
I’ve heard from two different sources that there is a second reverse discrimination suit in the works. Bear in mind that with teachers so unhappy with administrators and the board over the threat of an imposed contract, that there are a TON of rumors going around.

Very unfair of you to imply that a second lawsuit (if it in fact exists) is sour grapes over stalled contract negotiations. Hasn’t the District leadership demonstrated over and over that they are more than capable of hostile and innappropriate behavior towards staff? Your feigned surprise is very transparent.
Just because the administration of District 150 is flawed, that doesn’t translate into District 150 is always in the wrong. There is a LOT of blame to go around. Teachers share some of that blame. Sorry.
Maybe it is just me but I didn’t read into it what Peoria Parent did. I read it as the legitimacy of this rumor is in question as there are many frustrated over contract negotiations. Not that this rumored lawsuit is a retaliation for the contract negotiations.
this lawsuit has been in the works far longer than negotiations have been going south.

I spoke with some teachers at a holiday party. They will strike. They have a long list of mistakes that the D150 administration has made, including money wasted on lots of things that never get publicity. This hard line stance against the teachers, who actually deliver the education, is just the latest. Now it’s provoking a strike. Very sad.
If a strike occurs, it isn’t about the money/pay. Purportedly both sides are in agreement where salaries and pay freezes are concerned.

writes since they are firing the police, why doesn’t the police attack the teachers when go out on strike, stick to them with all their might.
when on strike, say something like so out here getting to rob cars to teachers.
why not the city council has put district 150 ahead of police, and build the block has renamed to fire the police and get a musuem

It’s the same guy. He writes that that on purpose, When I catch him libeling anyone, I delete it. I’ve banned him once, but he’s obviously using a different computer than before.
He does this to increase his “troll footprint.”
We recieved a letter from one of the most well loved and well respected teachers in our child’s school.
She laid out why she will be striking with the other teachers. It was very compelling.
She writes:
“I will be doing this for your children and not for any personal or financial gain. Your children desrve the best education possible. I do not believe that the district should have the ability to move a teacher to any school at any time of the year. This would not provide a loving, stable environment for your child. I do not believe that a child in a class of 30+ students is conducive to learning, especially in the lower grades. The children should not have to pay for the mistakes that the district has made.”
I believe that most parents will tend to side with the teachers when the issues are laid out like that.
The irony behind D150’s thought process on the involuntary transfer is that they truly believe that moving teachers from higher achieving schools to lower achieving schools will raise the scores at those schools. Essentially, they are saying it’s the teacher’s fault at those lower performing schools…….

not in a recession, but when did peoria government ever care what citizens that just forced the stuff through hook or by crook
Consider the illogic.
On one hand, teachers say parents should oppose efforts to let the district assign personal where they are needed because they might “lose” a beloved teacher.
Yet, if the district wants to base pay on MERIT, that can’t happen because teachers shoul;d be evaluated on seniority alone.
Either some teachers are better and more sought after than others, or they are not.
Show of hands: How many readers of this blog — who are NOT public employees — are avaluated on performance by their employers? How many Caterpillar employees cannot be transferred to other worksites?
