Congressional Candidate Carl Ray Supports Obama’s Response to Attempted Bombing
Carl Ray, Democratic Candidate for Congress, 18th District, voiced support for President Obama’s response to Friday morning’s attempted bombing of a Northwest Airlines passenger jet. Ray noted that increasing security measures around air travel, while not raising the Homeland Security Advisory System threat level struck the right balance.
“The President’s response has been quick, which is critical considering the number of people travelling at this time of year, and appropriate, which avoids causing undue alarm.”
“Obviously, this breach of security is something that cannot happen even once, so there needs to be an investigation into its causes and corrective actions taken.”
“While we don’t yet know whether the suspect’s claim of being affiliated with al Qaeda is true, we do know that, like them, he is a coward who hoped to further a twisted agenda with the lives of the innocent. This is in stark contrast to the heroic actions of the individual who risked their own life to subdue the alleged bomber.”
Ray is a resident of Washington, IL, a Gulf War Veteran and a former employee of Union Pacific Railroad and Caterpillar.
