Well, I told you blogging would be light.
Despite the valiant attempts by my many Facebook friends, I was not able to get my desktop replacement laptop working. I was holding out hope there was some magic trick I could do to get it working once that little netbook I had been using decided to just shot off completely and not book up at all.
So, I’m getting a new Dell. I posted some of the specs on Facebook, but I’ll repeat them at the bottom of the page, below the “more” link. Including tax, shipping and a spare AC adapter, the cost is going to be $583.31.
But here is what is ticking me off: I ordered it online on July 4. I paid for seven day delivery. So, shouldn’t that mean that delivery is going to be in July 11? But they are telling me the estimated delivery day is July 21. Since this is pretty much an off-the-shelf sale item, it shouldn’t be “in production” for 10 days.
Feh.
So, for about two weeks and a few days, I will find it nearly impossible to blog from home. I’m using my emergency backup computer and it’s extremely dark 17-inch Viewsonic monitor. It is like Hell.
So, blogging will indeed be light. I’m going to have to find time on a decent computer to update the Community Word site and some other blogs I work in.

If you really are as desperate as you sound, you should try a Puppy Linux live CD. Just set the computer’s BIOS to boot from CD. You don’t even need a hard drive.
If you use an Ethernet connections instead of Wi-Fi, you won’t have to mess with that. Plus, you can get a taste of Linux.

The puppy Linux is intriguing. I might try to burn a CD, oh, wait. I DONT HAVE A WORKING PC.
I thought you had an old one?
I do. So old it does not have a CD burner. It can read ‘em, not ‘write ‘em.
Why don’t you use the computers at the library? Your taxes pay for them. Get your money’s worth.
I have in the past. I often use their free wireless when I have a working laptop.
Good idea, though ,,,
