I don’t give the folks who toil away on the copy desk enough credit. So, I am pleased to give the award for Best Use of a Pun in a Headline  to whatever evil genius created the one that ran atop today’s Peoria Journal Star article about the Peoria Ballet’s new facility:

Questionable headline above city council article

Just five paragraphs (none of them the lede) of Jennifer Davis’* article about last nght’s Peoria City Council meeting was about the city agreeing to pay $163,000 to a bar owner for havign banned wet T-shirt contest.
But the headline above the story read: Council OKs wet T-shirt settlement.
Well, anything to sell newspapers, I guess. [...]

And Mrs. Railroad isn’t too happy about it

I learned in journalism school that a good copy editor has to have a dirty mind, because the readers certainly do.
Take, for example, this this headline from the Journal Star: Railroad pulls out early
