Yes, I know. The permalinks do not work. This is a problem with the server and a trouble ticket has been submitted.
My apologies for the inconvenience.

Some temporary site issues
A call for submissions
Wanna make some noise about a band you’ve heard for the first time? A dining experience left a bad taste in your mouth? Wasted a good two hours at the movie theater you’ll never get back? Sick of the crap on television?
By all means let the Blog Peoria Network know. Current BP members can...

Site issues: Outage is NOT my fault this time
I have been notified by my new host, mediatemple, that my databases are working fine and are no longer causing an undue strain on their servers.
That’s the good news.
Here’s the bad news:
Mediatemple was the victim of a denial of service attack today. It knocked down Blog Peoria and other sites hosted with (mt) today....

Site issues: Blog Peoria is back up
Sometime overnight, the Blog Peoria Project exceeded bandwidth, and all member sites were inaccessible. It seems the warnings from my hosting company were being blocked by Yahoo’s spam filter. An email solved the problem and the sites are back up.
My apologies for the inconvenience.

Site issues at Blog Peoria
Folks, I got some bad news in the mail today.
One of my member bloggers reported a problem entering her site. I checked, and lo and behold, it was affecting everyone’s Blog Peoria blog.
Essentially, there was a data base error that reported there were “too many open filed” for the mySQL databases to work.
I am...

Don’t touch that dial!
One of the things that frustrated me the most about newspaper work is the increasing emphasis of style at the expense of substance. That’s why I found this study soemwhat disconcerting:
In just a brief one-twentieth of a second — less than half the time it takes to blink — people make aesthetic judgments that...

The good folks who host the site report that there’s a problem with the Word Press Mu installation. I’ll investigate tomorrow. My apologies to anyone trying to post tonight.
UPDATE: No, I am NOT on crack. The Blog Peoria fron page seems to have disappeared, but all the blogs hosted at Blog Peoria are available....

Sporatic outages
The site was down for 20 minutes starting at about 10:45 a.m. today. I noticed some time out messages earlier this morning. My hosting company is reporting some of its servers are down. Don’t be surprised if there are occasional outages as they fix things.
Believe me, it’s nothing wrong on my end with...

I’m detecting a theme here …
I spent some time today making some long-threatened site improvements.
The most noticeable change is the Weather Underground graphic on top of the sidebar. I kinda like it. It adds a splash of color and usability. I’ll ditch it in a minute of anyone wants to buy the space for some advertising.
Right below that, in...

Web site is history
No, no, no. Not Peoria Pundit.
I’m talking about Historic Peoria. All I get is a Unix server error message.
Since I’m sure that the people who run the site aren’t techies, let’s hope they contact their hosting company and find out what’s wrong.

For sale: Wordpress.com invite
I learned after last night’s Peoria City Council meeting that my request for a free WordPress.com site was approved. I wanted it because as someone who takes an interest in getting quality people involved in the blogsphere, it might be worth reviewing. I’ve been tossing a few quicky posts onto the thing, basically kicking...

I have issues
• I’ve added “Day by Day” to my sidebar. I still have a bit of tinkering to do, I think.
• To make room, I’ve dumped the pics from my Flickr site. Judging by the uttler lack of comments, no one was visiting it anyway.
• I’ve increased the size of the text. I’ve also switched...
