Authorities say soon after a victim went to the hospital with a gun shot wound to the stomach, two more people showed up with bullet wounds. Police won’t say if the [...]

Go down to Peoria Police Headquarters and read a weekend’s worth of police reports (actually, you can’t, unless you a member of the press, but I was just being rhetorical anyway).
If you go through these reports you will see a theme. There are a lot of reports about people who seem to can’t keep their [...]

I got stuck in a car today that was playing Manheim Steamroller on the radio.
I detest Manheim Steamroller. It’s like elevator music on steroids. But people eat up that crap. Especially during Christmas, which is why WMBD was playing nothing but Manheim Steamroller today. Thanks guys. I had to listen to some heavy metal to [...]

Readers may have noticed that I’ve been getting some advertising from an outfit called “Dave’s Homeroast.” The proprietor of this Internet-based business is none other than former 1470 WMBD newsie Dave Dahl.
Readers might be interested the story behind this home-brewed business:
Dave’s Homeroast is a better way to enjoy coffee. I buy unroasted (”green”) coffee beans [...]

WMBD and the Journal Star report that the issue of sidewalk installation on the South Side will be a topic of discussion at today’s budget meeting at Peoria City Hall.
Note that we’re not talking about sidewalk repair. We’re talking about sidewalk installation. This is a neighborhood that has been occupied by people for close to [...]

If this “GateHouse News Service” report on how Insight Cable is going to carry some Bradley University basketball games is anything other than a press release, I’ll eat my fictional season tickets. What? No one was available in the JS newsroom to make a phone call for [...]

From The Hill
On the basketball court, referees could have called a technical foul on Rep. Ray LaHood (R-Ill.) for roughing up former NBA coach Dick Versace, now a Democratic candidate for Congress.
Versace, who is seeking LaHood’s central Illinois congressional seat, kicked off his campaign with a press conference on Monday in Springfield, Ill.
“He’s out of [...]

I run a lot of different ads here, but I steered clear of PayPerPost, which pays bloggers to say nice things about specific products. Public scrutiny and possible Federal Trade Commission action prompted them to require bloggers to disclose the arrangement to readers doesn’t make the whole scheme any less suspect.
I’ll leave it to Greg [...]

There’s no way in Hell the powers-that-be will allow Phil Luciano to continue working for Peoria’s one and only daily newspaper after the spot-on slap-down he delivered today about the $65 million Museum Square project:
Think of it this way: Peoria is about the same size as Allentown, Pa.; Evansville, Ind.; and Waterbury, Conn. Would you [...]

I have to admit that this sort of thing* not only annoys me, it worries me.
On WMBD 1470, I hear Dan DiOrio, Greg Batton and Jamie Markley segueing from commentary on public affairs into advertising messages. On WEEK, I see Tom McIntyre** and other anchors hawking vacation packages. These aren’t the only ones. Newspapers — [...]

B.J. Stone is now contributing to his Good Year For The Outlaw again.
I’m going to have to remove him from the Dead Blogs list.
It’s good to have him back. He’s been busier than snot since his radio station, WXCL, has been bought about my JMP, the same folks that run WMBD 1470 and WIRL.

I try to not make posts when I am upset. I usually end up saying something want to retract after I’ve had a nap.
That being said, I think I’ll wait till tomorrow to comment on Peoria and college television stations turning over raw footage of their coverage of the murder of Illinois State University [...]
